Announcing Our Series A Investment in Savant Labs
Company journey

Data and analytics tools seem to follow a familiar cycle of innovation—initial breakthroughs, widespread adoption, but eventually, stagnation. Legacy solutions like PowerBI, Tableau, Informatica and Alteryx were transformative in their time. As business needs have evolved, these tools struggled to keep up, a dynamic that’s been exacerbated by advances in Generative AI. The "Modern Data Stack" triggered a new wave of innovation, bit it relies on and caters to technical data teams. Organizations today require more than static dashboards and rigid reporting; they need agile, automated data transformation and analytics that empower non-technical users who sit deep within lines of business.

That’s why we’re excited to back Chitrang Shah and the team at Savant Labs. The data and analytics space is ripe for disruption. AI is the catalyst making this possible, and this is the team to lead the charge.

A product-centric leadership and team
That’s why we’re excited to back Chitrang Shah and the team at Savant Labs. The data and analytics space is ripe for disruption. AI is the catalyst making this possible, and this is the team to lead the charge.

At DTC, we look for founders with a clear vision, deep technical expertise, even deeper customer empathy, and the drive to execute. Chitrang embodies all of that. While this is his first time as a founder, he’s a seasoned operator who has been a part of building and scaling real businesses and who has a deep knowledge of the data space. He takes a product-experience-is-everything approach and innately knows how to build for the end user – something that we believe is key to bring in the next wave of innovation in analytics automation.

What’s different about Savant Labs? Likely as a direct extension from Chitrang’s product-centric approach, the company started with a fundamental customer problem: the manual, repetitive, and error-prone data processes that bog down enterprises. Business analysts don’t just need insights; they need automation to handle the hairy, time-consuming work of data transformation to get to those insights, and easy ways to build the data workflows that are critical to their business. Savant’s approach doesn’t just improve reporting—it streamlines how data moves through an organization, making it more accessible, actionable, and ultimately, more valuable.

The timing couldn’t be better
The industry shift is clear. AI is moving beyond simple text-to-SQL tools and into true agentic AI—intelligent, embedded automation that fundamentally changes how businesses interact with their data. The no-code/low-code wave was just the beginning. Savant Labs is building for the next era: AI-powered analytics that are cloud-native, scalable, and accessible to any user in the enterprise wanting to do more with their data.

The customer is always right. Especially when they are buying.
Customer validation was another key factor in our investment. Savant’s customers all had used (or were still using) other tools, and had compared multiple solutions, old and new. After using Savant, they were very eager not only to move their existing workflows to the platform, but also to empower many more users in many more teams to build workflows with Savant. They truly saw Savant as a way to democratize automation and business analytics.

This investment is about more than just backing a great product—it’s about backing the right team at the right time. The Savant team is building for the long haul, and their vision for Savant Labs is ambitious, necessary, and exactly what the market needs. We’re excited to be on this journey with Chitrang, along with Matthew Mesher, Yunfeng Yang, Barry Burns, Yintao Song, and the entire team at Savant Labs.
