Daniel Docter
Daniel invests in big/fast data and data analytics, AI/ML, cloud management and orchestration, and silicon. His investment philosophy is anchored by “doing good deals with good people.” He works best with founders who appreciate collaborative, opinionated investors and are not looking for another layer of management.
To Daniel, the strength of DTC is that it’s a team that does its homework. The investors deeply understand the spaces they invest in, have conviction in their opinions, and do not shy away from healthy debate.
Prior to joining DTC, Daniel worked at Intel Capital leading investments in cloud, data center services, software-defined networking, and high-performance computing. Notable exits from this era include Switch, Inc (NYSE: SWCH), Virident (acq. by Western Digital), and Tier 3 (acq. by CenturyLink).
Before Intel, Daniel advised Merrill Lynch’s tech clients involved in IPOs and M&A transactions. He also spent over a decade at AT&T Bell Labs and Hughes Research Labs working on optical and RF communications applications.
Daniel holds a PhD from the University of Bradford (England) and a B.S. from the University of Minnesota, both in electrical engineering, has been published in more than 50 journals, and holds ten patents.
