Bastion Zero joins CloudFlare Today
Motivation to start BastionZero came from, as Sharon Goldberg put it, a desire to “look at something that hasn’t changed in the last 20 years like remote access and let’s see how we can use cryptography to do it better.” Sharon, Ethan Heilman, and Mike Milano found that challenge in cloud security. Specifically in the management of remote access infrastructure assets (Kubernetes, servers, containers, applications, and databases).
Over the last several years, the team built out a platform that offers more secure access (with a unique zero trust architecture based on split keys) without compromising engineer efficiency. Passwords, keys, secrets, and privilege creep are out. Just-in-time access authenticated through cryptographic keys and centralized controls are in. Last year, to ensure their tech would be available far and wide, the team contributed Open PubKey, an open-source version of their technology, to the Linux Foundation.
The technological strides B0 has made in Zero Trust security in a few short years are impressive. In joining Cloudflare, the team have the opportunity to continue their mission with the potential to reach more users globally even faster. We’re excited for them and look forward to seeing it happen.
Congrats again, Sharon, Ethan, Mike & team. Thanks for letting us join you for the first chapter of your story! Wishing you the best for the next phase of your journey with Team CloudFlare.
